HISTORY BEHIND JAKOBSSON´S When the alerts were many on Henrik Jakobsson’s job during the early 2000s, he began to think about new business ideas. The trend of taste experiences in food had just taken off and as a snuff sniper, he reflected on the lack of innovation in the snus market. Why did snus only taste snus, snus could also taste fruit, berries, spices, etc. He decided quite soon to create a snuff that would not only contain well-selected tobacco varieties but also offer the customer something more, an experience. An idea that was formed into a targeted investment that eventually resulted in the Jakobsson’s brand – a flavored premium snus from Gotland. Jakobsson´s from Gotlandssnus is handcrafted hand-in-hand with the latest technology in the factory in Roma in Gotland. The raw materials are of the absolute best and the tobacco varieties are carefully selected and processed. Jakobsson’s are available in a wide variety of flavors and the quality is clearly evident in both fragrance, strength and taste.
“NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE IT NEEDS ONLY MOD” In October 2013, Dagens Industri named Gotland Snus as Gasell of the Year in Gotland County. The award given to the country’s fastest growing company was a highlight of a fantastic journey that has been going on since 2000 when I started the company at home in the kitchen. I firmly believed in the idea of making a first-class snus and building the company stone by stone or prilla prilla as I say. It took time to get the sales going, but after a few years we had enough customers to afford to build a factory in Roma in Gotland. Today, we manufacture just over 15,000 snuff boxes a day, turn over about 55 million and deliver to the national, American, Asian and European markets. Behind the success lies a long-term strategy characterized by nothing being impossible – it only requires courage. Our greatest asset is our employees. Without their will, patience and ingenuity, this would never have gone so well – no matter how much sought after products, many retailers and satisfied customers we have.
