Snus is a moist tobacco mixture that is put under the lip (a prilla), after which nicotine is released into the saliva and absorbed into the body via the mucous membranes. Snus is a traditional Swedish tobacco product, but snus is also used in, for example, Norway, Denmark and the USA. The snus that today’s Swedes prefer is a so-called wet snus which consists of about 50% water. It therefore differs from the traditional dry snuff, which one breathes into the nose and which is also called odor snuff, or snuff.

Today all manufacturing is done in the factory in Roma in Gotland where we also have our office.   FIRST STEP REMOVAL AND PAINTING The tobacco is delivered in large corrugated cardboard boxes which we store in a controlled environment with the right humidity and temperature. The tobacco is first fed into a mill where it is torn and ground. The ground tobacco then goes through a sieve where it is divided into different fractions which are taken out for snus according to a specific recipe. SECOND STEP PASTORIZATION The idea of pasteurization is to sterilize the snus mass and that we get a low content of TSNA. The process starts with heating the tobacco mixture with water and salt. Then the pulp is heat treated for a certain period of time and then ingredients such as sodium carbonate (increases the pH value) and aromas that give off odor and taste are added. When the pulp is finished and all measured values are approved, we empty it into barrels that are sealed with airtight lids. The barrels are stored in cold storage until the snuff is ready for packaging. THIRD STEP PACKAGING The snus pulp is dosed in the correct amount, which is then pushed down with air pressure in a nonwowen paper (the same paper used for tea). The portions are measured by a portion counter and then end up with the correct number in a box. Then two different lids are put on and the product is now sealed and excluded from contamination. The box then travels through a metal detector and wave station where it is carefully controlled. At the next step, the box receives its banner, top and bottom label. The boxes are then divided into logs which are plasticized and packed in cartons. LAST STEP REFRIGERATION STORAGE All pre-packaged snus is stored in the cold store (4-8 degrees) until it is time for delivery directly to the customer.
